At 18 years old, John Stancill is already a champion in the sport of racing. He began racing go-karts at the age of 5 and went on to win several track championships and state championships in both Virginia and North Carolina. Also add to his early resume several World Karting Association National Championships.
In 2004, John made history when he became the top junior driver at WKA's Kart Week in Daytona, Fl. John won three of the four races he entered and was featured in Sports Illustrated for Kids as well as having the honor of placing his kart in Daytona USA.
John began racing Bandoleros in 2005 in the Young Gun Division. At the age of 12 and with no prior Bandolero experience, he won at the Summer Shootout, one of the most competitive series. During the 2006 season, John participated in the Aaron's Pro-Challenge Series, finishing 3rd in the national points.
In October 2006, John began racing in the Semi-Pro Legends Division. With only six races under his belt he finished 4th at the Legends Nationals in Georgia.
2007 was a phenomenal year for John. During the 2007 Winter Nationals held at Orlando Speedworld, John capped off five days of racing with 2 wins, 2 seconds and a 3rd place finish. John was the 2007 Winter Nationals Semi-Pro Champion.
John accumulated 28 wins during the 2007 INEX points season -- 30 during the 2007 calendar year -- making him the 2007 INEX Semi-Pro Champion. He and the NPR crew then traveled to Las Vegas for the "grand finale" of the season, where he captured the pole starting position as well as the win in both the Semi-Pro Division and the Young Lions Division.
During the 2008 season, John raced selected events in the PASS Series, a Super Late Model traveling series. He was pleased to work with Mark Huff from Virginia, Jay Cushman from Maine and Chase Pistone from North Carolina for these events. John finished 2nd in the National Points for this series in his first year.
John joined with Chase Pistone for the 2010 season and raced selected events during 2009 and 2010 in the PASS series, capturing a pole at Hickory and several top 5 finishes. Chase's grandfather is Tiger Tom Pistone - a well known in NASCAR figure. 2011 has been a huge transition year for John, graduating from high school and starting college. This year he has participated in ARCA with Venturini Motorsports, an established and well-respected name in the racing community. You must be "invited" to race with Venturini, and they only select the best. John is currently enrolled as a full-time freshman at East Carolina University seeking a degree in mechanical engineering.
