As most teenagers are looking forward to spring break, sixteen year old North Carolina native John Stancill is getting ready to make his UARA debut at Bristol Motor Speedway on Saturday March 21st. Stancill will attempt to qualify the #98 car for owner Chris Carlson.
Stancill who hails from Ayden, NC is working with Crew Chief Chase Pistone for this event and has several more races scheduled with the team later in the season. “I really enjoy working with Chase and the entire CPInc crew. Chase built this car last year for Andrew (Carlson) so I’m sure he knows the car – inside and out. We practiced here a couple of weeks ago and I learned a lot about the car and the track. I feel confident going to Bristol with all the preparation at the shop and the testing that we’ve done, I just can’t wait.” stated Stancill.
The upcoming UARA-Stars 100 lap feature at Bristol will be one of the most competitive races of the season with it’s location and association with the NASCAR races this weekend. An estimated 50 cars will attempt to make the field for the late model event. All the NASCAR competitors and teams will be on hand to watch this event, which is scheduled to start at 7PM Saturday night. When asked how he felt about racing in front of NASCAR team owners and racers, Stancill’s reply was simple,” Well they are just people, maybe I can catch someone’s eye or maybe not – but either way, I hope to make the field, run a good race, and keep the car in one piece. It would be great to bring home a top ten finish at Bristol.”
